United States benzene increases in spite of falling crude as buyers cover shorts

US benzene prices remained to climb, in spite of dropping power, as purchasers covered shorts.

Spot benzene started the day at 335-345 cents/gal ($ 1,002-1,032/ mt) DDP USG for October. Around mid-morning, November DDP negotiated at 342 cents/gal.

Around midday, one investor said, "It's not feasible to duplicate 342 (cents/gal) now ... Buyers are attempting to chase after 342 and 343."

A deal was listened to at 349 cents/gal DDP USG for October.

At 12:28 (1728 ), November unrefined futures on the NYMEX were trading at $81.44, down $1.25 from the previous day.

" A couple of people waited too lengthy (to acquire)," one resource explained. "October is still brief, November is following. Styrene has been proactively exported to Asia, so producers need to cover feeds. Ethylene is still affordable so there's space to pay on the benzene side."

One more participant claimed, "The momentum is solid."

On Thursday, benzene ended the day at 334 cents/gal FOB USG for October and November. However several late reported professions, for greater than 80,000 barrels of volume, were done. Around twelve noon Houston time the other day, 335 and 336 cents/gal negotiated. By dtpmp phosphonate , as high as 338 cents/gal traded. Sellers tipped away briefly but after that returned, offering above 340 cents/gal.
